Electrical safety

• Contact with electricity can be dangerous for the inexperienced.
• If you have been authorized to change fuses or alter electric wiring.

  • Make sure you have the operators manual with all electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Safety instructions.
  • Before touching any item connected, make sure you are standing on a nonconductor mat or platform and it is dry.
  • Generally, an a thumb rule should be followed , that is to work with one hand and to keep the other hand and body away from touching anything while standing on an dry rubber mat.
  • If replacing fuses, replace only with exact amperage rating.
  • Check to make sure all persons are clear of any equipment which could start as a result of replacing fuse or while testing the machine.
  • Report any noticeable unsafe conditions to your supervisor at once and plan measure to improve the conditions.
• If you have been authorized to use portable electrical tools in the car wash, the following precautions must be followed:
  

  • Know all operation of the Power Tool which may be required - Read owner's manual carefully. Learn its application and limitations as well as specific potential hazards peculiar to the tool to be used
  • Insulation - Tools without double insulation should have a molded three prong plug.
  • Prevent body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, blowers, or machinery.
  • Don't use a power tool in a damp or wet area or expose it to rain.
  • While drilling into a wall accidental d,rilling into electrical wiring in walls can cause a drill bit, chuck to become energized. Do not touch the chuck when drilling into a wall. Grasp only the handle(s) provided on the tool.
  • If you have a known heart problem or other condition which may make you particularly susceptible to electric shock, you should not work with any portable electrical tools or service electrical items in any way. Tell your supervisor of your condition.
